Frosty!

Today it was so cold on the cycle to work (and the cycle home really).  When I left the house today the temperature was -6.  Here is a picture of the cycle path:

It was very frosty and foggy.  Thankfully not icy though of course I was worried that it was.  I asked 'the texter' if the path was slippy and he said no - well that's my name for him - I see him every day on the cycle path with his 2 dogs and he's always texting someone on his phone - hence the nickname I've given him!  The next 'regular' I pass is 'the axe murderer' so called because he's an elderly man with a limp and he always has this little black bag,  (In reality, his sandwiches are probably in it!)

I then usually meet the 'little red riding hood lady' so called because of her red coat.  She has a little black scottie dog with her.  I usually stop and chat for a minute as she looks lonely and at first she would just nod and not say much, but now she chats a bit.  The dog is really lovely too - except when I'm on the bike as he then barks, but if I come off and talk to him he's fine.

Next, usually at the roundabout I pass 'sour faced woman ' who I have tried on several occasions to engage in some pleasant, general conversation while we are waiting for the traffic lights to change, but she never talks.  Finally, there is the 'smiling Chinese lady' - who always has a cheery 'good morning' for me.

These 'mad musings' help me pass the time on the way to work.  Coming home I don't usually see anyone!

When I got to work this morning my hands were so cold and sore despite my gloves I was almost crying. Must find a warmer pair for tomorrow.

Ok, going to relax now and watch some TV.

Mich :)

  1. Thats a lovely pic Mich, I use 2 pairs of gloves when I go out with my hubby on his motorbike, the 'inners' are from a skiing type shop and the outers are proper bike gloves. I always put then on the heater before I go out too. I'm a real wimp when it comes to the cold. I like your names for your 'regulars'

  2. It is funny the people you always see/meet on a daily commute. I used to (on my long motorway journey), always overtake the 'llama man' - he had an I love Llama sticker on his freelander. Now I commute 30 minutes later and follow into town the same BMW 1 series car every morning

  5. I called by for HM, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who names strangers. Do you make up their life stories too?!!

  6. What a cold part of the world you live in, and what an early start! I always suffer from cold hands too - but my daughter keeps saying 'cold hands - warm heart', so I shall pass that onto you!
