I Know I said 'No More Ducks'

I know I said it, but honestly at the park on Sunday morning this duck was posing -

I saw it look at me! Couldn't resist snapping it! I was originally to be taking pictures of the water trying to get it to look good with the light, however ......

....I then saw this mum and baby and what could I do?

It's not often you see ducklings at this time of year.

But definitely no more ducks - even if they are standing on their beaks in a row - I am not photographing any more ducks!

To stay on an 'all things nature' theme, on Saturday in town they were collecting for guide dogs for the blind and obviously had out their cutest recruits to boost funds -

Well that's been my weekend!

Take Your Dog to Work Week

Well my dad is away on holiday this week (lucky him) and I'm left looking after the dog.  She is used to my dad being in and out all day so didn't want to leave her at home while I was at work as thought it may seem a long day so took her into work today.

There are only 3 of us in the office and my boss and the other surveyor aren't there all the time so mainly it's me so it's not such a drastic thing to take her with me.  Anyway, this was day one of 'take your dog to work week' and if I'm honest it actually went better than I anticipated.  She spent her time sitting under my boss's desk at his feet! The next time I went through to his office she was standing up with one paw on the desk! I mean, this is the dog who I call her name and she looks at me like I'm talking gibberish! We walked round to the coffee shop and she sat outside the door while we got our takeaways.  She obviously had some kind of 'sensible pill' this morning that I don't know about.  Either that or she's definitely a 'man's dog'. We will see how the rest of the week goes.

On the tartan front, found a piece of this lovely Melville (Ancient Hunting) tartan - a very lovely soft blue and green.

Have a good evening.

Beginning with 'D'

Just realised that the 2 pictures I'm posting today begin with the letter 'D'!

This one of the oh so cute duckling was taken on Saturday - thought it was maybe too late for ducklings as the last ones I took were in June.

Today at lunchtime while out on my bike from work, I was just 'practising' with my camera.  Taking pictures of the river with different aperture settings etc when a dog suddenly ran past me and into the river!

He totally ignored me!  It was a refreshing change to take a picture of something a bit out of the norm.

Here he is staring towards the path looking for his master coming.

I am heading off to York and then Whitby this week so looking forward to some very interesting things to photograph.

Have a good evening.

Sunny days

Thursday 11 July 2013
It's been a while since I've been able to nip to the park with the dog in the evening and come back sweating as it's so warm! Long may this continue!

My dog Mindy at the park - nothing I did could make her look at the camera!

Second picture is of the sun dipping into a cloud.

Have a good evening.

Handmade Monday

Well it has been a busy week work-wise (but I'm not thinking of work as I'll be back there tomorrow!).  I didn't even have time this week to do a mid-week post.  Never mind, some weeks will be like that.

On Saturday night I had a visitor over night - Jess, my daughter's dog.  Fortunately Mindy and Jess get on well though I'm sure Mindy has her own thoughts on Jess!  (Jess constantly eats Mindy's food!)  Walking them both together can be difficult as I definitely feel that my left arm is slightly longer after a walk due to the pulling!

I found a good blog that has some great crochet patterns.  I haven't ever tried to write out a crochet pattern but maybe I will try that.  I have crocheted something this week as a present to take down to my sister in law on Wednesday - unfortunately as they read this blog I can't post a picture!  Gift pictures will have to be another time!

I'm also involved in a Christmas decoration 'swap' on another blog - just in case someone who reads this is involved in it too, better not post pictures of that either!  Heck, what a picture-less blog this week!

I did take this picture though when I was out walking with Mindy one night this week.  I really liked the colours of the sky and the way they looked through this tree.

I have been making a new style of bracelet this week and I like the style and the fact that it can be for anyone (man, woman, child!) depending on the beads used.  It took a bit of concentration to work out how to make it but am getting quicker!

Anyway, pop over to 1st Unique Gifts to see what everyone else has been up to this week.

I will blog about my upcoming trip down to Cambridge when I get back. I am looking forward to finding some new bead and wool shops.

Have a great week!
Mich :)
